Our adult AED pads are designed for use on patients over the age of 8 years old although they can be used on children where there are no alternatives available – but for the best possible outcome, special pads for patients under the age of eight or 25kgs in weight should be used in the event of SCA in a child or infant.
Adult AED pads should be placed on the bare chest of the patient and connected securely using the adhesive tabs. It is important to remove any jewellery, clothes or other objects from their chest before attaching the AED pads.
Adult AED pads should be stored connected to the defibrillator itself, ensuring it is always rescue-ready. Any spares should be safely packed with the defibrillator, ideally in its carry case, with dedicated
No – The AED pads have been designed for a Defibtech defibrillator and should not be used with other AED devices. Likewise, it’s important to ensure that you purchase genuine Defibtech accessories for your defibrillator.

Adult AED pads come in pairs – so it’s important to check that each pack is complete. We recommend keeping one set of pads connected to the AED to ensure it is rescue-ready in case of an SCA, with two packs safely stored in the AED’s carry case as backup.
Electrode pads generally have a shelf-life of two years – the ‘use by’ is usually listed clearly on the packet itself and should be checked and noted when purchasing. Pads must only be used once and should be discarded following each use. For this reason, we recommend keeping a couple of spare packs of pads on hand at all times, just in case.
