FAQ’s

Please see the most commonly asked questions regarding our defibrillator battery packs.

How do I know which defibrillator battery to choose?

The defibrillator battery type you choose depends on the location and usage of your AED – Economy batteries last for around three years. In contrast, High Capacity batteries can last about seven years. It’s impossible to put the wrong battery into a defibrillator as it will not fit.
When browsing our range of defibrillator batteries, you’ll see compatible AED models included on each listing – but you can contact us for support at any time if you’re unsure.

How often do defibrillator batteries need to be replaced?

The lifespan of defibrillator batteries depends on which you choose. Our defibrillator batteries come in three variations – Economy, Standard capacity and High Capacity. They can last for up to seven years, although replacement time depends on how often the defibrillator has been used.

How do I know when to replace defibrillator batteries?

The smart technology in Lifeline defibrillators will let you know when the battery needs to be replaced. Defibrillator batteries are not rechargeable, so it’s important to be aware of battery lifespans and replacement timescales.

Why do defibrillator batteries need to be replaced?

Like any other electronic device, the batteries within a defibrillator will only deliver enough energy to keep them running for a certain amount of time. After several years and/or uses, the battery is no longer fit for purpose and will need to be replaced.

Are Lifecare defibrillator batteries compatible with any other models?

No – Lifecare defibrillator batteries are specifically designed for use with Defibtech Lifeline defibrillators. Our AED batteries are specially designed for each machine and are not interchangeable, so be sure to check your defibrillator model before purchasing.

Are your AED batteries rechargeable?

No – due to the nature of the requirement, Lifecare AED batteries are designed to be used just once and can be relied upon to maintain adequate charge throughout their lifetime without the need to rely on regular recharging. Once used, defibrillator batteries cannot be recharged and should be disposed of responsibly.

How do I dispose of defibrillator batteries?

AED batteries are classed as WEEE (Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment) and should be properly disposed of according to Waste Battery Regulations. The most environmentally friendly option is to send used defibrillator batteries to be recycled. You’ll find collection points and services throughout the UK for used battery recycling – check that your old batteries are compatible first. They’ll be processed at a specialist plant, and the parts will be repurposed where possible. Other waste products will be safely and responsibly disposed of according to regulations.

Where do you deliver AED batteries?

We can deliver defibrillator batteries anywhere within the United Kingdom, including the Channel Islands, via tracked courier service.
